About Naomi.
Naomi has dedicated her career and life to humanitarian work. With a background in Social Work and a master’s degree from East Carolina University, she has been helping families, individuals and working alongside community outreach programs for 14 years. Her experience began in 2006 with adoption work, assessing attachment issues and providing guidance to children and families during the process. She has continued to stay involved with the adoption community and holds a licensure as a Certified Adoption Investigator for the state of South Carolina. She then began to expand and worked for a high-risk pregnancy clinic, directly counseling women needing support and resources. During her graduate studies in 2008, one focal point was the importance of inclusion in the school system and she then worked for a rural school district in North Carolina, assisting families and children in need and creating equal opportunities to children in the education system. After locating to Charleston, SC she assisted in opening a therapeutic foster care branch in the area and worked extensively in licensing families and helping maintain placements of children with therapeutic needs and attachment issues. Naomi also has a five year history working with hospice & palliative care, providing anticipatory & grief counseling and guidance to families of all ages facing those challenges. In addition, she has also worked with the local hospital, providing group therapy teaching coping skills and techniques to those hospitalized for mental illness and psychiatric reasons.
Volunteer work includes mentoring the youth through Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and volunteering as support personnel with a therapeutic horseback riding center - helping children and young adults with disabilities through social and physical and animal engagement. She also served 4 years with people of low-income immigrating as an English (ESL) teacher through a local community outreach center. An avid traveler, she has also volunteered internationally with community outreach programs in Myanmar, Italy, New Zealand and Thailand. In addition, Naomi has a love for animals and has volunteered with the local Pet Helpers Shelter of James Island; she is the proud owner of two rescue animals.
Naomi opened the doors to her private practice in early 2017 and continues to be involved in the surrounding needs of the people in Charleston. After living in the area for over a decade, she feels this city and the people who thrive in this diverse community make it home for her.
